About the Event

An Extra 45 Minutes Can Provide a World of Knowledge

SPE Bergen Section would like to invite you to the first TechNight at our new TechNights location Nøsteboden! This is a great chance for you to keep yourself updated on latest technologies in the market and to meet your industry colleagues during the dinner after the presentations.

1. Cabot - ''Unlocking the value from your reservoir - a recent success story from the Norwegian Continental Shelf”.

Cost effective operations are more important than ever before. Cabot is the leading supplier of cesium formate fluids to the Oil and Gas industry and will share highlights from a recent successful operation offshore, Norway. Providing details as to why the application of Cabot’s enhanced reservoir Drill-in fluid, screen running fluid and clear brine completion fluids gave one operator the ability to unlock the reservoir in a field which had previously encountered a number of challenges.

2. Statoil - “Dielectric Permeability Predictions – Core and wireline”

Permeability prediction from log data in formations with complex pore structure remains challenging. Dielectric dispersion logs have shown to be sensitive to the pore structure. We show a new approach that utilizes dielectric dispersion logs for permeability predictions. A previous core analysis study has established the feasibility of permeability predictions from dielectric core plug measurements, utilizing an empirical model based on phase shift and amplitude dispersion in the kHz range. The technique has now been adapted to dielectric wireline logs, using dispersion phenomena in the MHz range. We show the application of the technique to a North Sea well with dielectric logs and ~300 core plug permeability samples. The outcome of the technique is a continuous permeability log curve for the length of the dielectric log, with an excellent match to dynamic well test data, even where no core data is available.
